  • The Plan A option (6 credits of ScEd 6970) requires preparation of a thesis. The Plan B option (3 credits of ScEd 6970) requires preparation of a review of literature.
  • Students in the College of Education and Human Services must submit Plan A Thesis Proposals through the COEHS review process. In addition, research involving human subjects must be approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB). Upon completion, all theses are reviewed by the theses coordinator in the School of Graduate Studies and by the Dean of the Graduate School.
  • Plan B (Review of Literature) proposals do not undergo the COEHS Review Process nor are they submitted to the School of Graduate Studies for review. However, all Plan B papers must be submitted to the library to be microfiched.
  • Plan A and Plan B papers must be submitted to committee members at least four weeks before a scheduled defense date. The “Appointment for Examination” form must be filed with the Graduate Schoola minimum of five working days prior to the Oral Examination and Defense.
  • A number of important requirements concerning time limits, transfer credits, acceptability of courses, grades, continuous graduate registration, and deadlines must be adhered to as students work to complete their MA or MS degrees. These policies and procedures are described in the USU General Catalogue.
