At the regular meeting of the Council on Teacher Education on March19, 2007, a motion was
passed to align USU’s policy with the Utah State Office of Education policy.
Therefore students must pass the Praxis in their majors and in their minors IF the minor is one of
the core academic areas as outlined by No Child Left Behind (NCLB). The core academic areas
are English, reading or language arts, mathematics, science, foreign languages, civics and
government, economics, arts, history, and geography.
